This is a question almost every Indian and Ayurved lover has been asking of lately. Even the Ayush ministry has specifically laid its guidelines to help people use Ayurved for the betterment of individual health and boost immunity.
But first we need to understand the role of Ayurved and know that there is a great difference in the prevention and cure methodology. Time and again it has been stated that Ayurved is there to boost your optimal health and by no means should it be taken as a curative method in the case of coronavirus 19.
Our #PM Mr. Modi has always stated the importance of alternative therapies in the prevention of diseases and boosting your health and the Government Is providing all guidelines to include AYUSH in daily living.
Ayurveda, regarded as a Holistic manual of Life & Age, describes a lifestyle that’s in harmony with nature. The Ayurvedic description of health is:
(समदोष: समधातु समाग्निश्चा मलक्रियः)
(प्रसन्नात्मेंद्रियामन: स्वस्थ इत्याभिधियते)”
“Samadosha, Samadhatu Samagnischa, malkriyah
Prasannatmendriyamanah, Swastha ityabhidhiyate
i.e. Only he, whose doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) dhatus (physical components – Rasa, Rakta, Mansa, Meda, Asthi, Majja & Shukra i.e. Plasma, Blood, Flesh, Fats, Bones, Bone marrows & Semen respectively) & Agni (digestive fire) is balanced, appetite is good, all tissues of the body and all-natural urges are functioning properly, and whose mind, body and spirit (self) are cheerful or full of bliss, is a perfectly healthy person. Ayurveda considers the individual as a whole and seeks to re-establish harmony between all the constituents of the body and a perfect balance of the tripod – Mind, Body, and Spirit. Basically Ayurveda is Health promotive – preventive – curative and nutritive – all self-contained.
Time and again Ayurved has taught us to follow a daily pattern of living according to our surroundings. This not only helps in building immunity but also keeps many health conditions away.
THE MAGICAL FACE MASKS FOR ALL TYPES OF SKIN THIS SUMMER SEASON
We all love pampering our skin and it becomes all the more important in this hot humid weather to get a hydrated and glowing skin.
Though many attribute face masks to have been invented in the 18th century and that to not in India seems not so true. Our Ayurveda texts dated almost 5000 years back have mentioned various herbs that are suitable to be used in summers in form of face packs.
चन्दनं घनसारेण बालकेन च मिश्रितं। सुगन्धि परं शीतमुष्णकाले प्रशस्यते।
सुगन्धबाला(fragrantPavonia root powder), केशर (saffron), चन्दन (sandalwood powder) have cooling effects in the hot season and and are hydrating in nature too.
All these herbs are coolant by nature and so are very good to be used in summers and are suitable for all skin types.
How to use?
Take 2-3 gms of each and make a fine powder then add any of these to form a paste and apply twice a week
Milk: If you have pigmented or tanned skin
Honey: for dry, dehydrated skin
Tomato juice: for open pores and dull skin
You can also add ½ tsp of fuller’s earth or multani mitti to bind these herbs properly.
Note: Avoid if you are allergic to any of the above ingredients

Raktamokshana
also called bloodletting is an important part of Ayurvedapanchkarma. It is used
primarily to reduce the increased pitta dosha in the body and thus it relieves
the negative effects of toxins accumulated in the body.
Here
we are going to elaborate on the use of leech therapy in varicose veins.
Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins. Any superficial vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body.
For many
people, varicose veins and spider veins — a common, mild variation of varicose
veins — are simply a cosmetic concern. For other people, varicose veins can
cause aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious
problems. In Ayurveda leech therapy is time tested
therapy for varicose veins. After undergoing the leech therapy, the veins in
the legs become normal and they are able to perform the function of
transporting deoxygenated blood comfortably.
Many people
still consider leech therapy as an alternate treatment where vascularity is
improved as the saliva of leeches contain
a variety of bioactive peptides and
proteins involving antithrombin (hirudin, bufrudin), antiplatelet (calin,
saratin), factor Xa inhibitors (lefaxin), antibacterial (theromacin,
theromyzin) and others.
These are also used widely in cosmetic and plastic surgeries
as they are protective tool against venous congestion. Though many still feel
it’s a complicated process Ayurveda has mentioned its proper management and
use.
If used with precision these are very helpful in the
management of vascular disorders and many chronic and life-threatening
abnormalities, such as cardiovascular problems, cancer, metastasis, and
infectious diseases.

Objects can block the nose and ear and some cases cause infection. In this Article, we guide you as how to help your baby and what to do if they have a foreign object stuck in their ear or nose.
If there is something stuck in your child’s nostril, it’s important to act quickly — either try to remove it or take your child to the doctor right away. If you delay, an infection can develop. In rare cases — especially if it’s left in the nose overnight — the object can get sucked into the airway and possibly cause choking
There are two important things to remember if this happens to your child:
1. Try once, then get help – Make only one attempt to remove the object on your own (unless you believe the situation is life threatening). The more times you try, the less cooperative your child will be when the doctor tries to remove it. This increases the likelihood of needing an operation to remove the object.
2. ‘Mother’s kiss’ method – If you do try to handle the situation at home, I recommend using the “mother’s kiss” method, which works best for small, hard objects like beads. Follow these steps for the kiss method:
Place your mouth over your child’s mouth.
Hold the nostril that isn’t blocked closed with a finger.
Blow gently into your child’s mouth.
And always seek medical help before the situation turns grave.
Detox of the oral cavity is done with the help of gandush or oil pulling
Oil Pulling / Gandusha is a very powerful and effective Detoxifying Ayurvedic practice that has recently become very popular. The concept of oil pulling is not new, and it has been mentioned in the Ayurvedic scripture called Charaka Samhita, where it is referred to as Kavala Graha or Kavala Gandusha. Oil Pulling involves the use of natural oils to clean and detoxify oral cavity. Its benefits are not only to treat the oral cavity but also to cure and prevent many other health issues.
In Ayurveda, Kavala and Gandusha are the procedures described in Dincharya i.e. the daily regimen and are useful in prevention of the diseases of the mouth, teeth and the gums. Filling the mouth in the morning with oil or medicated water daily and holding for a few minutes without moving it inside the oral cavity is called Gandusha.
Oil pulling (Gandusha) has been used to prevent decay, oral mal odor, gum bleeding, dryness of throat, cracked lips and for strengthening the teeth, gums and the jaw. It is a simple daily regimen, which, when done routinely, enhances the senses, brings about a feeling of freshness and maintains clarity in the voice. After adopting this procedure properly, one feels lightness and clarity in the mouth. It also relieves pain and discomfort. A Gandusha is to be held inside the oral cavity till there is uncontrollable salivation, secretions of tears from the eyes or mucous/watery discharge through the nose.
Benefits of Oil Pulling for ‘Oral Health’:
Benefits of Oil Pulling for Other Health Issues
It is mentioned in the Ayurvedic scripture Charaka Samhita, that this practice can cure about 30 systemic diseases ranging from a headache, migraine, diabetes and asthma.
Ayurveda’s claim that oil pulling purifies the entire system, can be justified with the reflexology and traditional Chinese medicine therapy (TCM) as each section of the tongue is connected to a different organ such as to the kidneys, lungs, liver, heart, small intestines, stomach and colon etc.
Gandusha Ayurvedic Oil Pulling Detox is a very Powerful practice. Prevents Teeth Cavities, Gingivitis, Bad Breath, Dry Mouth, Bleeding Gums..
It is believed that oil pulling helps the Lymphatic System of the body to remain in a good health (the Lymphatic System is a network of tissues and organs that help rid the body of toxins, waste and other unwanted materials). This is because the harmful bacteria are removed, and the beneficial microflora is given a healthy environment to flourish. Because of this holistic perspective, oil pulling has been used as a preventative health measure for many other health conditions.
Some of the health benefits include:
Increased Energy.
Clearer Mind.
Decreased Headaches.
Clearer Sinuses.

Eczema
is a form of dermatitis where inflammation of epidermis occurs. The exact cause
of eczema is not known. Although it is activated by the immune system and is
related to allergic reactions, it is not the same as other allergic reactions.
In Ayurveda, the disease is described by the name “Vicharchika.” Virechana is the best
line of management for skin disorders.
“Itch
that rashes” is characteristic feature of Eczema. The lipid barrier of skin is
usually reduced in the people with eczema, compared with others. The lipid
barrier helps prevent water loss. As the barrier is reduced water loss will be
faster as a result skin becomes dry. The immune system then overreacts to these
allergens and causes inflamed, irritated, or sore skin.
